The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance announced the upcoming review and revision of ANSI/APSP/ICC-13 2017 American National Standard for Water Conservation Efficiency in Residential and Public Pools, Spas, Portable Spas and Swim Spas and calls for subject matter expert participation in the new PHTA-13 standard writing committee.
The committee will revise the standard, which addresses the efficient use and conservation of water for residential and public pools, spas, portable spas and swim spas. It is also intended to assist local jurisdictions and other regulatory bodies, where necessary, in their water conservation efforts during drought and impending drought conditions. The anticipated timeline for this project is a year.
All stakeholders, including pool builders, manufacturers, pool service companies, testing laboratories, certifying bodies, pool designers, public health and building code officials, local municipalities, pool and spa operators and the general public are invited to apply for the committee. Read more about how to participate in the process or apply for the committee here.
Interested parties who may not be subject matter experts or active users of the standard are encouraged to attend meetings as observers.
Stakeholders are also invited to submit change requests to the existing standard for inclusion in the revised standard. Change requests can be submitted here and must be submitted by May 14 to be considered.
Committee application forms must be submitted to the PHTA by May 14. For more information, visit the Participate in the Process page or phta.org/standards, or contact April Nowicki, PHTA manager of publications and standards development, at anowicki@phta.org.
