Brothers Harrison and Nick Dale learned the pool and spa business from the retail side. Now, they’re betting on themselves as manufacturers.
Both spent their early careers at the family business, Pelican Leisure Sports in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, gaining experience across sales, marketing, delivery, purchasing and other areas of the operation. Nick sold his first pool at 16, while Harrison’s broad exposure to the business helped him see an opportunity on the supply side: manufacturing hot tub covers.
Together, the brothers launched Cover and Supply Co., where the realities of building a young manufacturing business mean their responsibilities remain decidedly hands-on. They make, sell and deliver covers while juggling raw materials, production schedules, customer service and the systems needed to keep orders moving.
For Nick, one of the unexpected challenges has been tracking each cover through production. Their solution for now is a giant whiteboard detailing every order, its specifications and where it stands in the process.
“It isn’t a perfect system, and we’re constantly finding ways to improve, but it’s been working well so far,” Nick says.
Those systems are being tested as volume grows. In January 2026, Cover and Supply Co. sold over 100 covers in a month — a milestone Harrison counts among his proudest since starting the business.
Both brothers envision more growth ahead. Their goal is to build a larger facility and establish Cover and Supply Co. as a premier hot tub cover supplier throughout the Northeast, with the potential to eventually expand into other regions.
But the company they want to build isn’t only defined by production numbers.
“I dream that one day I can build a large facility to serve the Northeast’s needs for spa covers and find other young people who are trying to find their way in the world to help them out by giving them a wonderful place to work and grow,” Harrison says.
The brothers also share an appreciation for the close-knit nature of the spa industry. Harrison values how readily people exchange knowledge, while Nick points to the mutual respect among people who understand how much work goes into running an industry business.
“Everyone that you come across in the industry are hard workers, and they know that you are too,” Nick says. “There’s a shared respect between people because we all know what it takes to make an impact.”
As young suppliers trying to establish themselves, the Dales know firsthand how difficult it can be to earn an opportunity. Nick hopes that experience remains part of how they do business as the company grows.
“Whether they’ve been in the industry 15 years or 15 minutes, everyone deserves a shot.”
