Passion Spas USA Remains in Operation as Michigan-based Distributor Files for Bankruptcy

A Michigan-based distributor of Passion Spas has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, but the filing does not affect the ongoing U.S. distribution of Passion products or the manufacturer in the Netherlands.

On Aug. 5, Passion Spas, LLC, based in Saugatuck, Michigan, entered Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in the Western District of Michigan. According to court records, the company was owned by Jeff Moux and had operated as a distributor of Passion products in the U.S.

The bankruptcy is limited to the Michigan distributor. Passion Spas products will remain available to U.S. dealers and customers through a separate Texas-based distribution company.

“This closure of the Michigan distribution point simply changes the distribution point for dealers needing product and support stateside,” says Audrey Markiton, owner of Passion Spas’ Houston distribution center. “Any dealers who worked with the Michigan distribution warehouse can be serviced by the Houston distribution center.”

Markiton notes that Passion Spas as a manufacturer continues to support the U.S. dealer base from the Netherlands, while her Houston team will now serve as the daily contact for dealers.

The Houston warehouse stocks on average 200-250 spas, swim spas, ice baths and saunas, along with thousands of parts. Markiton says they will continue to provide warranty coverage, new products, parts and technical assistance for dealers throughout North and South America.

Currently, Houston is the only direct distribution point for Passion Spas in the U.S.
