Good News: Veteran Support

Montana retailer awarded for its work with veteran community

Mountain Hot Tub in Bozeman, Montana, recently received the annual Montana Veteran Owned Small Business of the Year award, which goes to a business at least 51% veteran-owned with a successful track record and commitment to strengthen veteran-owned businesses within the community.

Kelly King, owner of Mountain Hot Tub, started in the spa industry in 1989 after serving in the U.S. Navy. For the last six years, Mountain Hot Tub has been working with Warriors and Quiet Waters in Bozeman, a nonprofit that serves post 9-11 combat veterans and their families by offering a fly-fishing ranch experience.

Mountain Hot Tub cares for the ranch’s indoor pool and hot tub free of charge. Leisure Supply of Boise, Idaho, provided equipment for Mountain Hot Tub to upgrade the pool with variable-speed pumps (Pentair Intelliflo) and Bioguard has supplied all chemicals over the last six years. King’s wife, Shirley, volunteered as a companion to one of the warriors in an all-female group last year.

“WQW is one of our favorite nonprofit groups,” Kelly King says. “We are committed to keeping their pool and hot tub maintained as part of our support for them.”

The company received the award in September. The SBA, Building Industry Association, Chamber of Commerce and representatives from Montana state congress attended the presentation. “It was pretty cool for our staff,” King says.
