What is happening? Do you feel like you’ve got your feet back on the ground yet? I sure don’t. It feels as though our lives are changing at a lightening pace; as soon as I think I’ve got the new normal figured out, it’s changed again.
But I’ve never been prouder to be in this industry. Not only have retailers quickly adapted, but many of you have also told me you’ve had record months during this crisis. People are aching for stress relief and entertainment beyond another streaming show or phone app — and you have found ways to make it happen.
That’s not to say there aren’t hardships. In your darkest recession dreams, could you have imagined a scenario where the government would not allow you to open your doors? Many have had to tighten their belts, lay people off, cut benefits and make other painful decisions.
Speaking of which, you’ll notice this issue is bundled with our sister publication, PoolPro. We’ve had to get creative as well, facing challenges with our own suppliers, production and customers. This isn’t exactly what I envisioned when I went into business, which is how most of you probably feel as well, but I am as committed as ever to helping our industry stay strong.
