Outdoor GreatRoom utilizes leadership program for employees

The Outdoor GreatRoom Company participated in the Think GREAT Leadership Connection Program designed to improve productivity and strengthen relationships within the workplace. Influential speaker, former marine and author Erik Therwanger led the program and walked through important aspects of building a successful company and developing togetherness among coworkers.

This program helped OGC leaders further develop essential tools in being key contributors within the company. All team members, including interns, were encouraged to participate in the series. A few sessions of honest, constructive discussion took place on how OGC can be a more dynamic and collaborative workplace. A main focus of the program was the importance of culture and communicating effectively.

“Communication has been a key topic of discussion throughout this program,” says Ryan Shimek, controller for Outdoor GreatRoom. “With the recent surge in orders, production and shipments over the last several weeks, communication has become even more important to make sure all the moving parts are working together to be successful.”

Among culture and communication, topics such as establishing values, prioritizing tasks and delegating roles were also addressed. In response to the course, leaders are taking action to strengthen their impact on the company. Laura Podmolik, customer service manager and eastern sales coordinator is already implementing the program’s teachings: “I’m strengthening my focus on prioritizing tasks for the day by making daily lists before diving into the everyday responsibilities,” she says.
