Dale Jamieson, 36
Spa World, Business development manager
New South Wales, Australia
Dale Jamieson’s father started Escape Spas in Australia. From age 10, Jamieson was immersed in the business, spending time with his dad and helping wherever he could.
“I wasn’t always that helpful,” he says. “I remember running around the factory in China and being told off by the owner as I was breaking pumps. I accidentally drained a spa that was being tested.”
By the time Jamieson was old enough, he was officially working in the family business, managing spare parts, unloading containers and assisting at trade shows. His work paid off when he was promoted to operations/sales manager in 2013.
“This was a big step up and a lot of responsibility, but I rose to the challenge,” he says. “I was keen to do well by my dad and the business.”
In 2014, when Escape Spas was sold to Spa World, Jamieson was initially concerned about the future of his role. However, Andrew Pullen, the new owner, soon became a mentor and friend, and Jamieson transitioned into roles such as key account manager and wholesale sales manager before making a move to Jacuzzi as a regional manager. When Jacuzzi acquired Spa World in 2021, Jamieson returned as business development manager.
For Jamieson, the spa industry is more than just a career — it’s a community. He values the camaraderie and the shared mission of enhancing wellness for Australians.
“We’ve got the right priorities — work hard, play hard and spend time at home with family and friends, enjoying the great Aussie lifestyle,” he says. “It’s a real privilege to be part of helping everyday Australians enjoy that same lifestyle.”
Jamieson aspires to become the managing director of Vortex Spas and eventually the CEO of one of the largest spa companies in the world. He is also interested in improving industry standards, advocating for better product quality and ensuring consistent safety regulations across Australia.
He hopes to be involved in shaping the industry through leadership roles, potentially on a governing board like SPASA, to help more people enjoy the benefits of hydrotherapy and backyard relaxation.
