Sundance Spas: The Next Chapter

How Sundance reimagined a bestselling line to meet customer expectations

Sundance Spas is giving one of its most popular collections a thoughtful refresh. The 780 Series, a mainstay for both dealers and consumers, is being updated to enhance usability, elevate design and strengthen performance, while staying true to the brand’s heritage of hydrotherapy and craftsmanship.

Balancing innovation and tradition

Suzi Rush, director of product marketing for Jacuzzi Group, Sundance Spas’ parent company, says the organization approached the redesign with care. “Sundance is such a tight-knit family — there are dealers who have been with us for decades and customers who are so loyal to the brand,” Rush says. “We have the responsibility of balancing moving things forward for what a customer expects today without losing the core brand identity of what people know and love about the 780 Series.”

The 780 Series is known for its roomy interiors, ergonomic seating and hydrotherapy excellence. Rush emphasizes that those foundations remain but have now been elevated with design details and user-focused features.

Dealers agree the line has been essential to meeting customer needs. “The 780 Series has been vital to our growth over recent years,” says Justin Gardner, sales manager at New England Spas. “Due to [the pandemic] and now tariff wars, the cost of everything has increased. The spas within this series provide an excellent massage at a consumer-friendly price.”

Hydrotherapy first

At the heart of the update is an expansion of Sundance’s signature Fluidix jet technology. “For the first time, we’re carrying over the Intelli-Jet that is one of the core jets in the 880 Collection to the 780,” Rush explains. “You can switch that jet to have a different type of deep tissue massage based on your preference.”

Dealers see this as a meaningful enhancement. “Adding to the Fluidix therapy story with the addition of the Intelli-jets is a great idea — who doesn’t want more massage options?” Gardner says.

This upgrade ensures even midtier models deliver premium, customizable massage experiences — a hallmark of the Sundance brand.

Modern controls and timeless design

The updates extend beyond hydrotherapy. Rush says today’s spa users expect sleek, intuitive controls. So the 780 Series now features a glass-touch control panel designed for easy operation and personalization.

While many brands chase minimalist aesthetics, Sundance takes a different approach. “It’s not just about modernizing because this customer isn’t looking for the most modern, simple product,” Rush says. “It’s about how we fit in with your backyard.”

Gardner says the new look and feel will resonate with his customers. “These are moves to help separate this series from the competition,” he says.

The refreshed SunSide cabinetry, complete with a warm wood-look finish, and clean interior lines help the 780 Series integrate into outdoor spaces. Enhanced pillows and a redesigned top rail further improve comfort and usability. “We’ve also maximized the space in the seats while maintaining the same great Sundance MicroClean filtration,” Rush says.

The updated 780 Series will roll out to dealers in December, with previews beginning in October to coincide with show season.

Details that elevate the experience

Additional upgrades add value and appeal for consumers. The new waterfall design, for instance, provides both a visual focal point and a relaxing ambiance. “It has much bolder lighting now and a nice, wide cascading sheet of water,” Rush says. “There are times when it’s all about the massage, and then there’s also the moment to just unwind at the end of the day. That really adds to that calming experience.”

Another feature is a status indicator light. “Day-to-day, it’ll be just glowing softly white with the Sundance logo,” Rush explains. “But if the spa needs some attention, it will turn the light red so that you can see at a glance.”

Looking ahead, Sundance is also future-proofing its spas with heat pump compatibility. The updated 780 Series can connect with the Balboa Clim8zone heat pump, offering energy-efficient heating and the ability to cool water in warm climates.

Spa Sense: Smarter water care

Alongside the 780 updates, Sundance is spotlighting its Spa Sense water care technology. Paired with the SmartTub app, Spa Sense provides real-time water quality monitoring and clear, prescriptive treatment directions.

Rush says this eliminates one of the biggest ownership stressors: water care. “In the front right corner of the spa, you can easily access the microfluidics cartridge, which needs changing just once a quarter,” she says. “It measures your spa every morning for some of the key aspects of the water chemistry and tells you exactly what to put in. It’s almost giving you the expertise of a professional managing your water, right on your phone.”

The system launched in 2024 for both the 780 and 880 Series as an optional upgrade, and Rush says consumer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Sundance team members are also enthusiastic about the innovation, with one employee sharing, “My water is perfect now — the stress of worrying that something will go wrong is gone.”

Dealers note these upgrades give customers added peace of mind. “At New England Spas, we make sure all our guests know they are part of our family once they purchase from us,” Gardner says. “By adding features like [Spa Sense and] the SmartTub app to their purchase, we have an additional way to ensure we are watching out for them because we receive and monitor alerts on their spa.”

A strong value proposition

Ultimately, Rush says the updated 780 Series balances affordability, performance and ease of ownership. “It’s a tremendous value where you’re getting the core benefits of Sundance without a very high price tag,” she says. “It really packs a punch. You’re getting the strong Sundance hydromassage, beautiful look and great features — with the trust that you’ll be able to enjoy it for years to come.”
