A Summer of Service

King Technology’s Community Impact

King Technology’s dedication to enriching lives extends beyond its products — it’s a core value the company lives out through community service. This summer, the King Technology team participated in two service events: a food donation project with Catholic Charities and a back-to-school supply drive supporting ResourceWest.

Feeding the community with Catholic Charities

Each year, King Technology’s marketing department organizes a Summer Service Event. Previously, the company has collaborated with local food pantries and organizations such as Secondhand Hounds and Feed My Starving Children.

For this year’s event, the marketing department partnered with Catholic Charities in Minneapolis/St. Paul for the first time to address food insecurity in the community.

“The volunteers helped prepare meals at our distribution center that were sent out to life-saving programs across the Twin Cities,” says Mary Bachman, the director of volunteer resources at Catholic Charities. “Every year, our organization serves over 1 million meals to people in need, thanks to help from dedicated volunteers like those from the King Technology group. We know that we cannot do this work alone.”

For Aaron Hemstock, product marketing specialist at King Technology and the leader of this event, it was a powerful reminder of the collective good a group of people can do.

“At King Technology, our vision is to ‘Enrich Lives Daily,’ ” Hemstock says. “We embrace this principle not only in our business practices but also in our daily interactions and personal lives. Many of my fellow employees volunteer their time outside of work, but King Technology takes great pride in providing opportunities for team-based community service.”

Supporting education with ResourceWest

Meanwhile, another team at King Technology was busy with their own summer service project.

The Vision Team — which includes employees from all departments who plan and execute quarterly events and service projects — organized a back-to-school supply drive to support ResourceWest, a nonprofit that assists families in need in the Twin Cities West Metro area. This initiative marked the second year that King Technology has supported ResourceWest’s Back-to-School program, which provides backpacks filled with essential school supplies to students in the Hopkins and Minnetonka school districts.

Anachie Stueve, social media specialist and service chair of the Vision Team, says this project was close to her heart.

“My mother is an elementary school teacher, and I am passionate about education as a music educator myself — I teach private piano and voice lessons,” she says. “I have seen firsthand the investment teachers make, both with their time and money, to help their students succeed. It is our job to lessen the burden and make sure all children and teachers have what they need for a great school year.”

In collaboration with CircleK, King Technology’s building neighbor, the company collected physical donations and online wish list purchases for ResourceWest. The donated items were delivered to the organization in August, providing much-needed support for students and teachers as the new school year began.

“Our vision spreads to our distributors, dealers, suppliers, consumers and beyond — wherever we can be of service,” Stueve says. “Living out this vision is of the utmost importance to our organization. That’s why we aim to better others’ lives year-round.”
