Maggie Wood, general manager and co-owner of Hansen’s Pool & Spa in Kenosha, Wisconsin, has been involved one way or another in her family’s business her entire life.
“I can remember sitting at a kitchen table putting address labels onto sale postcards with my parents and siblings and having a ton of fun with it,” she says.
Since 2003, Wood has held almost every position at the company, from stocking to sales and deliveries to installations.
“It’s helped me become a well-rounded leader because I can come at every job from the viewpoint that I have done it before,” Wood says.
After more than 20 years in the business, she still loves what she does.
“While there are no doubt some tough days, the hot tub industry is like no other,” Wood says. “I love working with people, including the ones on my team and our customers. I also enjoy the connections I have made and continue to make with others in our industry. Going to industry events and training sessions is a blast.”
As a member of the International Hot Tub Association’s leadership team, Wood is working on creating more educational opportunities.
“So much time is focused on technical knowledge,” she says. “There is a major missed opportunity to educate retailers and their teams on everything there is to know about hot tubs, from benefits to selling and beyond.”
