MasterSpas: The Return of Xtreme
MasterSpas brings back the Xtreme Therapy Seat, reengineered for its 30th anniversary
MasterSpas has revived a popular feature from its early 2000s lineup — this time with updated engineering and controls.
Created to celebrate the company’s 30th anniversary — a milestone that also coincides with its updated MasterSpas branding — the LSX 30 marks the return of one of the company’s most recognizable design elements, the Xtreme Therapy Seat, now paired with updated motor technology and digital controls.
The LSX 30 is positioned at the top of the Michael Phelps Legend Series. The 94-inch-by-94-inch spa seats up to seven adults and combines high-output pumps, contoured lounge seating and dense jet configurations, anchored by the wraparound Xtreme Therapy Seat that envelopes the user in a dedicated therapy zone.
A strategic anniversary release
The “30” in LSX 30 represents three decades of MasterSpas manufacturing. Introduced at the company’s 2025 dealer meeting and now shipping, the model revisits a feature that helped define the brand in the early 2000s.
“We wanted to bring something back that was popular in our earlier days and put a new spin on it,” says Kevin Richards, president at MasterSpas. “That Xtreme Therapy Seat was our most popular model for several years.”
When the spa was unveiled, the response was immediate. “[The dealers] clapped,” Richards says. “That doesn’t happen all the time.”
For retailers who remember the original design, the reintroduction carried weight.
“It stuck out immediately,” says Teddy Dellas, president of LeisureTime Warehouse. “When we got to see it and touch it — that’s when I was really blown away.”

The ultimate performance spa
In MasterSpas’ portfolio, the Legend Series represents the premium tier. Richards describes it as the brand’s “ultimate performance hot tub” category and says the LSX 30 builds on that positioning. Its horsepower, jet density and therapeutic capabilities match the line’s identity, but the return of the Xtreme Therapy Seat sets it apart within the line — and, Richards says, remains a configuration he doesn’t see elsewhere in the category.
“It’s for that high-end customer who wants the best,” Dellas says. “It’s like all their best seats in one hot tub. It just checks all the boxes.”
Taking it to the extreme
The defining feature of the LSX 30 is its wraparound Xtreme Therapy Seat. Designed to envelop users, it delivers immersive hydrotherapy from shoulders to calves.
“It gives you your own space,” Richards says. “Nobody’s infringing on you there. That seat is yours.”
What differentiates the updated version is its integration of true variable-speed motor technology paired with advanced programming controls.
“The variable speed in that seat ranges from a very delicate massage to an extreme massage,” Richards says. “You control how it builds, how long it lasts and how intense it gets.”
Users can select preprogrammed sequences or create personalized routines, adjusting intensity and duration. A secondary control panel allows adjustments without leaving the tub.
For Dellas, that personalization adds value.
“You’re creating your own experience,” he says. “It’s not one-size-fits-all anymore.”
In addition to adjustable jet intensity, the variable-speed technology supports long-term efficiency. “With rising energy costs, that matters,” Dellas says. “Over 20 years, that adds up.”

Layered therapy throughout
Beyond the Xtreme Therapy Seat, the LSX 30 integrates specialized zones.
The StressRelief Neck and Shoulder Seat delivers above-waterline hydrotherapy to tension-prone areas. Contoured lounge seating provides full-body coverage, and the Master Blaster Foot Therapy station concentrates high-volume flow through multinozzle jets for head-to-toe therapy, Richards says.
“We’re in a health and wellness industry,” Dellas says. “For people looking for extreme therapy, this is going to be exciting.”
Simplifying ownership
Performance is paired with ownership-focused innovation.
“When it becomes a project, people lose interest,” Dellas says. “Clear water and hot water are what matter.”
The optional Master Clear Salt System generates sanitizer from low salt concentrations to maintain consistent water quality with minimal manual intervention.
“We intentionally set out to create a system that operates at lower salt concentrations than other systems on the market,” Richards says. “That protects the equipment and makes it easier for the customer.”
The MasterSpas logo also lights up and is a power-status indicator.
“I can look out my back door and know it’s running,” Richards says. “That’s peace of mind.”

Standing out in the showroom
In the premium segment, many spas offer similar footprints and jet configurations. Richards and Dellas both believe the seat gives dealers a visual starting point for conversation.
“When customers walk in and see that wraparound seat, they’re going to say, ‘Wow, I haven’t seen that before,’ ” Dellas says.
For retailers competing in high-end showrooms, that tactile differentiation matters.
“I would go right to that seat,” Richards says. “Turn it on, and let them imagine what that feels like every day.”
